Deceased family members can apply for exhumation of deceased buried in the Exhumable Burial Lot (One Extendable Term Only), Exhumable Burial Lot (Multiple Extendable Terms), Permanent Burial Lot or Permanent Urn Burial Lot.
Same procedure applied for exportation of Exhumed Human Remains deposited in Ossuary Niche.
Recognized Representative apply the necessary documents from the Cemetery Office & FEHD Office
Recognized Representative presents the original official receipt of the grave/niche concerned to apply for the 'Permit for the Exhumation of Human Remains' ('Yellow Permit') from the Cemetery Office, and then apply the 'Permit to Remove/Exhume Remains' and 'Authorization to Exhume Remains' from the Crematoria Section of the Food and Environmental Health Department (FEHD) office.

Bring all necessary documents back to the Cemetery Office for exhumation booking
After obtaining permits from FEHD, Applicant shall bring the FEHD permits and the Yellow Permit back to the Cemetery Office and book a date to exhume the human remains of the deceased (14 or more working days thereafter, quota for the exhumation of remains is limited per weekday) and pay for the following prescribed fees. Applicant is advised to take a record of the inscription on the gravestone before it is demolished and/or any objects to be retained.

Exportation of Exhumed Human Remains to other cemeteries
An administration fee of $700 will be imposed and the 'Authorization to Exhume Remains' will be immediately returned to the Applicant.
Proceed with the Niche allocation application and pay for the prescribed fee.
If an underground chamber is to be constructed, reburial should take place within the next 7 days, or else the exhumed remains must be immediately reburied.
Proceed with the Co-burial application and pay for the prescribed fee, and the fees for Demolition of existing grave and Concrete paving.
According to the law of Hong Kong, scraping of bones for deceased not fully decomposed is prohibited.
The FEHD will re-issue a 'Permit to Remove/Exhume Remains' to the Applicant after the exhumation. The Applicant shall arrange for re-exhumation of the remains or for exportation of coffin for cremation before the permit expires. Please contact the Cemetery Office for details.
